"I’ve known him for 28 years – as lecturers – as business partners – as photographers – as friends – together we dreamed of conquering our world(s) – and we did!" - Vernon Chalmers

This was my last flower I photographed at Kirstenbosch before my best friend, Joseph Inns, passed away.

And then came the reality...

“The reality is that you will grieve forever. You will not ‘get over’ the loss of a loved one; you will learn to live with it. You will heal and you will rebuild yourself around the loss you have suffered. You will be whole again but you will never be the same. Nor should you be the same nor would you want to.” - Elisabeth Kübler-Ross and David Kessler

Vernon Chalmers and Joseph Inns Friendship

They were not only friends but also colleagues, business partners, and fellow photographers. Their bond was built on mutual respect, shared passions, and a profound emotional connection. Joseph Inns, who passed away in April 2021, was a significant influence on Vernon Chalmers.

They worked together as lecturers and photographers, inspiring each other and those around them. Joseph was known for his kindness, patience, and creativity, leaving a lasting legacy in the photography community 1 2.

Vernon often reflects on their time together, cherishing the memories and the impact Joseph had on his life and work. Their friendship was a testament to the power of shared dreams and mutual support 2." (Source: Microsoft Copilot 2025)
