The Milnerton Flea Market on a Sunny Saturday

Milnerton Flea Market - Cameras and AccessoriesSaturday at the market...
A hotchpotch of colours, textures, goods and just about everything at the Milnerton Flea Market.

This Flea Market is not just about 'one man's junk is another man's treasure', there are various traders selling handmade African craft works, secondhand books, textile and various stalls of fresh produce and refreshments.

I have found the table with all the old film cameras and accessories particularly interesting and will definitely go back for another look.

The Milnerton Flea Market seems to be well organised with clear trading policies and communication between the traders and the Flea Market site management. I've spent some time discussing various bits of trading and other information and received very positive feedback on well organised trading environment and conditions.

One advantage of using fast shutter speeds is the freezing of motion of birds in flight (BIF). On a DSLR and / or advanced compact / bridge camera this is achieved by either Manual or Tv (Shutter Priority) Mode.

DSLR vs Compact / Bridge Camera (ito faster lenses / higher shutter speeds)
The advantage of a DSLR over a compact camera (imo after various tests) will be faster autofocus, improved lens image-stabilisation (IS) and the bigger image sensor (for improved low light shooting, depth of field and possibly some framing).

The week after my field testing of the Canon EOS R6
I went out a couple of times with the Canon EOS 7D Mark II for some reference testing. I went for a view short hikes along the Diep river, Woodbridge Island and the adjacent Table Bay Nature Reserve
(opposite the Milnerton Golf Course)

Also captured my first sighting of an African black

Five new bird species seen at Woodbridge Island

I am quite pleased to add five new bird species that I have seen over the last two months here at Woodbridge Island and the adjacent Table Bay Nature Reserve.

Images are not of the greatest quality, but for now will have to suffice as record shots that I have added to my Woodbridge Island Bird Species Index.

Canon Equipment Used:

  • Canon EOS 7D Mark II / EF 400mm f/5.6L USM lens
  • Canon EOS R6 / RF 800mm f/11 IS STM lens

I literally study 100's of new Canon DSLR camera official sample images as new bodies are released - the attached image here is from the new Canon EOS RP Full-Frame . Mirrorless.

In many ways IMHO a better capture / sample composition than some of the sample images captured with the semi-professional / professional EOS bodies. No bad reflection on the semi-pro / pro bodies - they are all top notch, but rather reflecting on the effort and skill of the photographer(s).

Herewith a list / link to various Canon EOS camera sample galleries on one of my websites of sample images from most of the current 'crop' from Canon (2014 - 2019).
