Some of the more challenging Birds in Flight shots to get into focus are those of small (erratic flying) birds coming straight at the lens.

Fortunately, most modern AF Systems are capable of assisting the photographer for tracking and capturing these shots.

During my Birds in Flight Photography and Advanced Canon EOS Autofocus System training I discuss and demonstrate the requirements / settings for these typical 'flying into the lens' / and other shots.

Canon Equipment / Settings Used

  • Canon EOS 7D Mark II
  • Canon EF 400mm f/5.6L USM Lens
  • AI Servo (Case 1 : Wide Zone AF)
  • Manual Mode: f/6.3 / ISO 800 / 1/5000s
