White-breasted cormorant in flight with Canon EOS 6D

Canon EOS 6D Full Frame Body / EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS USM Lens Birds In Flight Test

Objective: Demonstrating capability of the full-frame EOS 6D for capturing Birds in Flight in multi-shot mode (4.5 fps) paired with the Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS USM lens in the Milnerton Lagoon, Woodbridge Island Cape Town.

Note: All photos handheld. Images captured in RAW (JPG conversion via Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.7). Applied Lens Profile correction with minimum post-processing.

Canon EOS 6D FPS / AF SpeedThe Canon EOS 6D is not as fast as the Canon EOS 70D (7 fps) or the Canon EOS 7D Mark II (10 fps) in terms of fps / AF speed for Birds in Flight, but with patience still possible. The primary application for the Canon EOS 6D (and my own) is for landscape and low light general photography. The 1.6 crop factor of the APS-C bodies also provide for more reach with the same lenses.
