"The Kaapse Klopse, also known as the Cape Town Minstrel Carnival, is a vibrant and colorful festival that takes place annually on January 2nd in Cape Town, South Africa 1. This event, also referred to as Tweede Nuwe Jaar (Second New Year), features thousands of minstrels dressed in bright costumes, carrying colorful umbrellas, and playing various musical instruments 1. The festival has deep historical roots, dating back to the mid-19th century, and is a significant cultural celebration for the Cape Coloured community 1.
