The OCEANICASUB XIX (IMO 9538086) is a modern offshore Research and Survey Vessel designed to support complex marine geophysical, hydrographic and subsea inspection operations. Although photographed in Cape Town under her former name Argeo Venture, the vessel has since been renamed OCEANICASUB XIX, while retaining her permanent International Maritime Organization (IMO) identification number of 9538086.

Purpose-built for demanding offshore environments, the vessel represents the highly specialised class of research ships that underpin modern offshore energy development, seabed mapping, subsea infrastructure inspection and marine scientific exploration. Unlike conventional cargo vessels, research and survey ships operate as sophisticated floating laboratories equipped with advanced positioning systems, survey sensors, remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) and high-capacity onboard data processing facilities.

Unlike traditional survey vessels of previous generations, OCEANICASUB XIX incorporates numerous engineering innovations intended to improve operational efficiency and crew comfort during extended offshore deployments.

Among her most distinctive features is the ULSTEIN X-BOW®, a revolutionary bow design that reduces wave impact, improves seakeeping characteristics and lowers fuel consumption while enhancing crew safety in rough ocean conditions.
