I captured this shy purple heron taking-off in the Table Bay Nature Reserve close to Woodbridge Island, Cape Town during a recent mid-morning hike (opposite the Milnerton Golf Course with Table Mountain as backdrop in all images).
We only spot these shy birds on occasion and unlike the name 'purple heron' I find them more brown in colour. The backdrop for these four consecutive image is Table Mountain - which is about 8 to 10 kilometers from the Table Bay Nature Reserve.
