Pied Kingfishers - Woodbridge Island, Cape Town

Two early-morning / very active Pied Kingfishers captured just after sunrise in the Diep River / Woodbridge Island. All kingfisher photos by Vernon Chalmers with Canon EOS 7D Mark II / EF 400mm f/5.6L USM Lens ISO 400 f/6.3 1/4000's, AI Servo (Handheld). 10 fps High-Speed continuous shooting mode.

I noticed this rare activity out the corner of my left eye while focusing on something else, but immediately re-focused and composed for this high-speed burst capture sequence. I captured about 10 frames and was more than satisfied with the results from the fast frame rate and nimble Autofocus from the Canon EOS 7D Mark II / EF 400mm lens pairing. The kingfishers are very fast and as displayed here are a consecutive burst of the first five images.
